PICNIC: SUNDAY, 23 MARCH 2008

It was hazy last time I went to Paramount Ranch. It looked like it might have rained a bit earlier, but the ground seemed dry enough. My legs weren't up for a long hike, so after a short walk I sat in my car for a while.

I went back today. Sun shining; a few fluffy clouds in the sky.

The grass is tall and green; wildflowers sprinkled through it like little dabs of paint. The Oaks are just starting to show leaves, and there are, of course, rabbits.

We'll be gathering together on Sunday, the 23rd this year. Yes, it's Easter. Yes, it's a Faire rehearsal day, although little enough goes on there on a usual Easter.

We plan, if plan is the right word, to be there from noonish to sixish. The parking lot closes at sunset. We'll be on the hill in the afternoon to remember comrades no longer with us; around four PM.

J. Paul wants everyone to bring a kite, although the winds out there are oft a bit of a challenge to kite flying. Musical and magical things are also welcome, as are all of you and whomever you might want to bring along. Non fairefolk welcome, of course.

Bring food for yourself, for others if you've a mind to, and bring water. Alcohol is tolerated by the park service but drunkenness is not. No smoking of anything is allowed, and remember that it is Federal ground and patrolled by park rangers.

I hope that some of the new chums who visited us last year will be there, and that all of you will come out to join in the day.

Until we meet again I am, and remain, with you in the journey.

Marc
